Imagine a young boy who has never had a loving home. His only possesions are the old, torn clothes he carries in a paper bag. The only world he knows is one of isolation and fear. Although others had rescued this boy from his abusive alcoholic mother, his real hurt is just begining -- he has no place to call home.

This is Dave Pelzer's long-awaited sequel to A Child Called "It". In The Lost Boy, he answers questions and reveals new adventures through the compelling story of his life as an adolescent. Now considered an F-Child (Foster Child), Dave is moved in and out of five different homes. He suffers shame and experiences resentment from those who feel that all foster kids are trouble and unworthy of being loved just because they are not part of a "real" family.

Tears, laughter, devastation and hope create the journey of this little lost boy who searches desperately for just one thing -- the love of a family.

Growing up I was never into reading books I didn't have to. I seen this book at one of my friends house and just picked it up. I read the info about it and I was intrigued. As I started reading, it didn't take but the first 2 pages to totally consume me completely. Heart, mind, soul, etc. after asking to borrow I went home and started reading more. My father thought he was seeing things when he seen me reading and flip page after page. I read the entire book that night. I have now read and re read it over 20 times and each time becoming more emotional now that I have a son of my own. THIS IS A MUST READ!! So amazing!

As a 16 year old reading this it makes you realize how much pain is in this world and how hard it is for those people to get out of the life they are in. It makes me wish there was something I could do to help those who have been in or are in those types of situations.
  • Absolutely amazing

This made me cry so much and made me see how foster care isn't the horrible miserable place people told me it was. I admire David's strength and determination and whenever something gets hard I say, what would David do?

I found the book a man named Dave first. I found it in my second year of middle school when looking for a nonfiction book for LA. After I read that book I had to read more so as it is right now I've read all but about 2 of his and some of his brothers books. If you haven't read this book or any of the others I highly suggest you do these books really can change your life.
